Obituary of Glenn Niles

Peacefully at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Manchester, New Hampshire on May 27, 2015 following a brief illness, at age 95. Predeceased by his loving wife Elaine (Dewar) Niles on May 22, 2005, also of Manchester, NH and formerly of Hepworth. Also predeceased by his parents John and Vida (Decamp) Niles, his sister Vina Vercauteren and parents-in-law Donald and Katherine Dewar of Hepworth. Brother-in-law to Elmer and Donna (Dewar) Mechan of Weymouth, MA, Richard J. Rusk (pre) and Audrey (Dewar) Rusk of Owen Sound, and James Dewar (pre) and his wife Gladys Wenger of Barrie. Glenn is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Born in Cambridge, MA on June 6, 1919, Glenn served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II, and while stationed in Bermuda he met his future wife Elaine Dewar from Hepworth who was also stationed there as a nurse during the war. For many decades later and for as long as their health permitted, Glenn and Elaine traveled annually from their home in Manchester, NH to Sauble Beach and Hepworth, sharing many memorable moments there with family and friends, and they remained connected to the area throughout their lives. A graveside service will be held at Zion Cemetery on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., where as a forever devoted and loyal husband, Glenn will join his beloved wife Elaine. Memorial contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated as your expression of sympathy. Messages of condolence for the family are welcome at www.downsandsonfuneralhome.com Arrangements entrusted to the DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME, Hepworth.
